First Impressions
The URL www.tiptopjob.com takes the user to the Global TipTopJob site - from here, the user can change which regional site they wish to visit by clicking on the appropriate country from the drop down menu. The over-use of the pastel colour scheme makes it difficult to always pick out the key information. However, behind the aesthetics, the site has functionality and certainly is not lacking in content.

There are plenty of advertising opportunities on this site - whether it is a banner across the top, sponsorship (email alerts/newsletters) or company profile pages - there are many options open to employers and agencies.

Tools on Offer
It seems that nowadays, a job board isn't complete without having 'add-on' services to offer candidates. TipTopJob.com provides the usual Salary Checker and Career Centre offering CV advice and the like. It also presents the opportunity to purchase books (from partner Amazon) and the visitor can use the multi-lingual option - apparently converting the ENTIRE SITE in to a number of different languages. I tested this but to no avail - various words changed throughout the site, but most of it stayed in English!

Other extras include a user friendly 'My TipTopJob' section, results of recent surveys conducted by TipTopJob and an online opinion poll - although after placing the vote it would have been nice to see the results so far!

Strengths and Weaknesses
The most obvious strength is the site's content. There is plenty of it, from available jobs and advice on changing career paths, to archives of newsletters. The job search box is quite apparent, although this is only a keyword search facility. The user can however click the industry sectors presented on the homepage to search more specifically.

When the user is browsing the jobs, they are unable to view the full job description unless they have registered. This is quite unusual these days and actually acts as a barrier to many users who may feel like they do not have time to register or do not want to register until they know the job is suitable for them.

Nevertheless, when the user takes time to register, they will find it a quick and easy process, and with extra functionality such as the ability to save a plethora of CV's, cover letters and job searches, it is definitely worth taking the time to register.

Time though, is something the user will have to have - many pages took a long time to load and bearing in mind that home users are likely to be connected through standard modems, their patience is likely to be tested!

Summary
According to TipTopJob.com, the site was two years in the making - and yes, granted, it offers many services to many countries and has a growing reputation as an up-and-coming international recruitment portal. All the same, there are still many improvements that could be made. If, like the site testifies, they continue to improve their service based on the comments of the users themselves, one can only assume the site will grow in functionality, usability and ultimately popularity.
